Trends in influenza vaccine coverage among primary healthcare workers in Spain, 2008–2011
2013
To evaluate trends in seasonal influenza vaccination coverage in primary healthcare workers (PHCWs) in Spain between 2008 and 2011.We made an anonymous web survey of PHCWs in 2012. Information on attitudes towards and knowledge of influenza vaccine, and immunization in previous seasons was collected. Self-reported vaccination coverage and factors related to vaccination continuity were analysed.Of 5433 workers contacted, 2625 (48.3%) responded to the survey: 47.0% were general practitioners, 10.3% paediatricians and 42.7% nurses. Their reported vaccination rates from seasons 2008-2009 to 2011-2012 decreased over time: 58.4%, 57.4%, 53.2% and 49.3% (linear trend, p0.001). Among workers vaccin…
Applying a web-based training to foster self-regulated learning — Effects of an intervention for large numbers of participants
2016
Trainings on self-regulated learning (SRL) have been shown to be effective in improving both competence of self-regulated learning and objective measures of performance. However, human trainers can reach only a limited number of people at a time. Web-based trainings (WBT) could improve efficiency, as they can be distributed to potentially unlimited numbers of participants. We developed a WBT based on the process model of SRL by Schmitz and Wiese (2006) and tested it with 211 university students in a randomized control evaluation study including additional process analyses of learning diaries. Results showed that the training had significant effects on SRL knowledge, SRL behavior measured by…
From Calcium to Cadmium: Testing the Pairing Functional through Charge Radii Measurements of Cd100−130
2018
Differences in mean-square nuclear charge radii of $^{100--130}\mathrm{Cd}$ are extracted from high-resolution collinear laser spectroscopy of the $5s\text{ }{^{2}S}_{1/2}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}5p\text{ }{^{2}P}_{3/2}$ transition of the ion and from the $5s5p\text{ }{^{3}P}_{2}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}5s6s\text{ }{^{3}S}_{1}$ transition in atomic Cd. The radii show a smooth parabolic behavior on top of a linear trend and a regular odd-even staggering across the almost complete $sdgh$ shell. They serve as a first test for a recently established new Fayans functional and show a remarkably good agreement in the trend as well as in the total nuclear charge radius.
Use of CORS Time Series for Geodynamics Applications in Western Sicily (Italy)
2020
In the last few decades, the use of GNSS Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) networks allowed improving the accuracy of real-time positioning and post-processing positioning. In this way, several applications have been performed including remote sensing, agriculture, cultural heritage and geodynamics studies. The latter have been developed analysing CORS time-series and consistent data over long periods were needed to validate the results. In Italy, specifically in Sicily, two CORS networks were be used to monitor the geodynamics motions: the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV) GNSS CORS network in the eastern part and the University of Palermo (UNIPA) GNSS COR…
The role of mothers' beliefs in students' self-concept of ability development
2018
The aim of this study was to investigate whether the child-related competence beliefs of mothers are associated with the development of Finnish adolescents' self-concept of mathematics and literacy ability during their transition from primary to lower secondary school and whether these associations depend on adolescents' level of performance. The results showed that, first, adolescents' self-concept of mathematics and literacy ability decreased over time. The impact of maternal beliefs on the linear trend of the self-concept of mathematics and literacy ability was dependent on the level of students' performance. Mothers' high beliefs buffered against the decrease in adolescents' self-concep…
